What's this all about?
We love whole grains! We have found that we prefer their flavor. They are also far healthier than the refined foods which characterize the typical modern diet.
Switching to whole grains helps maintain a low glycemic diet. That means you will have more sustainable energy levels throughout the day, and probably fewer problems with weight control.
We created this website with one goal: to build an online community of like-minded people who either share our enthusiasm about whole grains or just want to learn more about them.

These little 'cookies' are almost too healthy to be called a cookie. My Dad has been on a life long search for a cookie that wasn't too sweet so after playing around with the ingredients I have finally achieved what he wanted. In fact, he thinks they are so good and nutritious he thinks we should call them a Nutritional Supplement! There is no sugar in this recipe however if you prefer sugar to honey--then simply alter the recipe....cut the baking soda to 1/4 tsp. and add an extra tablespoon of water. Your baking temperature should go to 350 if you are using sugar. When replacing sugar with honey you have to increase the baking soda to increase the acid and you reduce liquid by 1 Tablespoon. Also, with honey baking--lower the baking temp. Editor's note: I made these today for my preschooler with the following modifications:
They are not as sweet as most oatmeal cookies I've had, which is a good thing. We could not stop eating them; especially my preschooler. They are excellent "nutritional supplements!" Thanks again for sharing them, LCheliak! Healthy Oatmeal Cookies (with Honey) Ingredients: Dry ingredients

These turned out so good no one would ever know how healthy they are
They are so awesome.
I left out the baking soda, baking powder, molasses and cinamon, but they were still great.
Too sweet for my taste tho. Maybe I slipped on the honey. Also, I didn't like the taste of honey too much. I will try 1/2 honey and 1/2 maple syrup next time.
Thanks for the recipe!
Print recipe stalled out Safari on my Mac. Tell the webmaster.
just tried the recipe. Very tasty, but it got a litlle dry. Next time I'll try putting less flour.
Thanks for the cookies :)
these cookies gluten free?
what flours to use and how much?
thanks so much!
We have substituted half a banana, mashed and beaten, for the egg (vegan version) and it has turned out just fabulous!
eat to many, I did do 1/2 applesauce so they would be lower in calories.
* Went with Whole Wheat pastry flour
* 1 TBSP is PLENTY of cinnamon in my opinion
* Used 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup fructose; probably will use all fructose next time
* Didn't have molasses, so I used agave nectar
* Used two whole eggs
* Used 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
* Used Canola oil margarine instead of regular oil
These turned out rather cake-like which I wasn't expecting but I LOVE them! I made larger cookies and it made about a dozen. I made sure to press them down since they didn't spread much. Since I used margarine, I didn't feel the need to refridgerate.

I don't know what the daily percentages are since that varies based on what kind of diet you're trying to achieve. Also, I calculated the recipe based on canola oil since that's what I had. I think reducing the amount of walnuts would help with fat if anyone is concerned with that. I'm just delighted they taste so great!
