What’s this all about?

We love whole grains! We have found that we prefer their flavor. They are also far healthier than the refined foods which characterize the typical modern diet.

Switching to whole grains helps maintain a low glycemic diet. That means you will have more sustainable energy levels throughout the day, and probably fewer problems with weight control.

We created this website with one goal: to build an online community of like-minded people who either share our enthusiasm about whole grains or just want to learn more about them.

Chocolate Nests

What a delicious treat to celebrate spring and Easter time! These are so easy to make and a great activity for the kids. In no time at all, you are rewarded with a beautiful and yummy dessert. The fiber cereal in my recipe is also a healthy and tasty update to the fried noodles that have been traditionally used. I look forward to this time of year so I can make this recipe!

Chocolate Nests

  • 6 ounces of milk, dark or semisweet chocolate, (equal to 1 cup of chocolate chips)

  • 3 cups of high fiber cereal

  • 1 container of candy-coated Jordan almonds*, made with natural food dyes

* I found delicious Jordan almonds at Whole Foods made without artificial colors or flavors.

  1. Place chocolate in microwave-safe bowl. Melt at 50% power for 2-3 minutes, stirring after each minute. Remove chocolate from microwave and stir well.

  2. Add cereal to chocolate and stir to combine thoroughly.

  3. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto parchment-lined baking sheet. Press 3 Jordan almonds into each nest.

  4. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes. Makes 18 nests. Store in the refrigerator.
